What kinds of dogs do we work with?

Our low-stress grooming technique is suitable for all dogs, but designed specifically for those who are fearful or aggressive while being examined by a vet, being handled, or having their feet touched. If your dog has been fired by a groomer for being too difficult, get in touch!

What happens during sessions?

We use a systematic training process of counter-conditioning and desensitization to accustom your dog to having his paws handled, his nails filed, being bathed in water, being blow-dried and brushed out. We charge by the hour because our focus is to develop your dog’s comfort with the process, and each dog’s learning curve is a little different. Our promise to you and your dog is that he will never feel uncomfortable or afraid, and we will go at his pace.

We encourage family members to hang out and relax in the room while we work, especially if your goal is to do maintenance care at home.

How long will this take?

Each session takes between 45 and 60 minutes and costs $50. Depending on your dog’s comfort level, you can expect the entire process to take between 3 and 12 sessions.

If your dog has shown aggression toward people in the past, we may begin by training him to wear a basket muzzle for our safety and his, which will add a few sessions.

What’s the end result?

Your dog will be comfortable (nay, excited!) having his nails filed, being bathed, and being brushed out. You can subsequently continue grooming at home or return here for regular maintenance.
